My twist to an Irish Apple Crumble....:)

This is an ideal recipe when you want to have some sweet but do not want to add up a lot of calories to your diet. It uses relatively less sugar and you can make it as healthy as you want, but I promise, you will not be compromising on its taste.

Ingredients -

4 apples of your choice. I used Granny Smith apples for this

1/3 cup flour ( you can any flour of your choice)

6 tbs of sugar

1 &1/2 stick cold butter ( approximately 1/4 cup)

1 tsp lemon juice ( optional)

Recipe -

Cut your apples in small pieces. The smaller the piece the faster it will cook. Add the lemon juice over it to prevent from browning. Once your apples are cut, add it to the oven safe baking dish. Add 1 to 2 table spoon of sugar and coat the apples. Adjust the sugar depending on the apple's sweetness.

I used a normal cake pan for this. You can use any oven safe dish for this recipe.

Once you apples are ready, lets make the top crust for the crumble. In a bowl add in ur flour and remaining sugar and mix well.

Now, cut your butter in small pieces and add in the flour and rub it with your hands or a fork till the flour resembles corse bread crumbs. It need not be fine crumbs. Just rough bread crumbs will be fine.

Then add the flour mix over the apples and pile it up. It might seem a lot of flour, but it reduces a lot as the apples cook.

Bake your apple crumble at 350 degree Fahrenheit or 180 degree Celsius for 35 to 40 minutes. You can even make this in microwave or over a pan. Microwave timing will be approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on the voltage. The timing over a pan will be approximately same as an oven. Keep a close eye after 30 minutes of the pie so that it does not burn.

You can serve your apple crumble with some freshly dipped cream or some ice cream. Here, I used Oreo ice cream with a small drizzle of honey, just for presentation. Honestly, I like my crumble plain without any topping.
