Kerala Style Fish Fry

This is a very simple and easy recipe for a good fish fry to accompany your meal. You can marinate and store the marinated fish for frying later, if you do not want to use it all up. It's a quick and tasty recipe and do try it out.

Ingredients -

Fish of your choice - 200 grams (I used Tilopia Fish here. Any fish will work for this recipe)

Chilly Powder - 2 tsp

Pepper Powder - 1 tsp

Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp

Turmeric - 1/4 th tsp

Coriander Powder - 1 tsp

Salt as per taste

Coconut Oil - 4 to 5 tbsp (As needed for shallow fry the fish)

Whole Chilly - 3 (Optional)

Curry Leaves - 4 to 5 leaves (Optional)

Recipe -

Cut your fish in your desirable size and keep it aside. Add chilly powder, pepper powder, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder in a separate bowl and mix well.

If you feel the marinate is little dry, you can add few drops of water to make it a desired consistency.

Rub your marinate in the fish and let it sit for at least 20 minutes before shallow frying it. Be gentle with the fish to avoid it breaking.

Heat up the pan with coconut oil and add add your fish till it is crispy on outside and soft in middle. A rule of thumb is to fry the fish for 5 minutes each side on medium to low heat. Be careful on turning the fish to avoid breaking.

Add your optional curry leaves and chilly towards the end to get the flavor and use them as garnish to your fish fry.

Serve and enjoy your easy Kerala fish fry.
